Buenos Aires has a population of around 13 million while the population of the country is estimated at around 40 million. There are lots of Irish names in the Buenos Aires telephone directory such as Carney, Daly, Downes, Downey, Doyle, Flannery, Gilligan, Gillespe, Hoban, Kearney, MacGrath, MacLoughlin, MacNamara, and Murphy but unfortunately no MacGreals. There are also the inevitable Irish pubs. Lots of Welsh settled in parts of Patagonia and even today, on the television on any Sunday morning, you can hear a good old fashioned Welsh hymn-sing in Welsh! Its a country with a great ambience and zest for life.
