No but I remember my Grandfather telling me about them. You paid 2/6 per week (12 1/2 pence) but couldnt use more than 100 watts at any given time.
In the early days many houses only had two lights and one (round-pin) socket outlet
As far as I Know the ESB reached Castebar in 1930. I dont know if there were private local schemes prior to that (most of these were were bought out by the ESB and ether closed down or integrated into the ESB network)
Ballina had a hydroelectric generator on the river Moy which supplied a sawmill by day and public lighting at night
