The day usually began with a scramble over the wall into Henry Kennys field. Then began the ritual of seeking out the elusive indigenous Shamrock.Anything that vaguely resembled the trefoiled plant was garnered and admistered to all remaining in the household.Yellow clover aside, onto Mass and the loud and fascinating FCA colour party.Their footsteps rang out throughout the Church to be followed by the excellent trumpet playing of Jimmy Feeney. The Majesty of this cermony was not matched elsewhere on this day.I recall in the afternoons watching the Railway Cup Final with my dad on tv.A different day no doubt.
