I was thinking only of RC churches. I think the old county home church would have been the oldest had it survived. In 1838 the old Church of the Holy Rosary was where the present church is and the then national school lay on the same site next to where the monastery is today. The Methodist church was already present in 1838 on the Green near Rock Square and the nearby stone house at the steps was a school house. Which of the two buildings is older - Christ Church or the ex Methodist church ?? Is Christ Church fully functional these days or has it entered the local museum/ art gallery stage ??
