Thanks for that JDP it took me awhile to get back there as my eye caught some previous comments along the way.The current OS Discovery Maps indicate a ring fort in that location.I did not see any sign of that.The folly aspect I dont know.Today was a fine day in Castlebar and if you were to build a house close to a lake and enjoying a brilliant prospect {or commanding the perfect v iew }then this was the place to build.Sorry I missed the first outing of this particular subject.Must do better!!!
