I can`t shed any light on the interface of Station Rd. and Spencer St. but the site where Robinson`s (Smith`s) garage now stands was. the location of the Plaza Ballroom in the 40`s and this was also the temporary cinema after the fire in Bourke`s cinema.
This building was owned by the Barrett`s as well as the four houses immediately after. The Elliotts -Joe R.I.P., Brendan, Nacie and Frank are descendants of the Barrett`s. There are many anecdotes about the Barrett family - there was a Jim and Cis ( who died in recent years) and by all accounts they were eccentric geniuses. Murrisk, H.D. could have some stories here or Tempus I`m sure S.L.could help out.
My mother was born and raised in Spencer St. in a house approx. where the Tobin family subsequently lived.
