The principal state aided land purchases for tenant farmers were in 1881, 1885 and 1903, during/following the Land War of the late 1800's. I think the main purchases were in 1903 ? The Ordnance Survey of 1893-99 would have provided the basis for these purchases in the Castlebar area. Thereafter, no more "striping" the land.
