No wonder we had such a strange world view! The Bobsey twins, Biggles et al. Just William books were my poison. Fortunately I skipped the famous five, or was it seven, or was that secret instead of famous? Do you remember the strange smell that there always was in the library? It can't have been the books because I've visited libraries on all five continents and never got the same whiff.
