What I though was one of my earliest memories was of the Gasworks in Castlebar, but I though they were down New Antrim Street, like in front of the Sacred Heart Home but logically now, it might have been youthful confusion in my mind because I think it might have been there I went with my Dad (when I was about 2 0r 3)to get a Gas Bottle Refill. Perhaps there used be a Calor Gas Depot there. Maybe there still is?

I do remember the Huge Lanterns strung from the Mature Trees in the Mall at Christmas and the Huge Crib they used build at the back of the Church every Christmas. (T'was a treat on Christmas eve to go to town to see the Lights and the Crib)

I remember when the Bank of Ireland used be on the Mall in the (former) Nursing Home and there was a building on Spenser Street with railing in front of it which can be seen in some old photos, It might even be where the Info Age Offices are now. Anyone remember which building exactly and when the railings were taken down?
