The Rás used to finish regularily in town and
I recall the national newspapers commenting on
the magnificent crowds that used to come out
on to the streets for the finish.The sight of
the multicoloured peleton sweeping down Staball
was a sight to behold.One man who wasnt to
happy though was Shay O hanlon who complained
bitterly about the wind coming accross the bog
at pontoon.His whinging jackeen accent got a
great laugh on TV.
