Emigre - when you paste soemthing into the "Optional Image URL" the URL filename has to end in .jpg or .gif - it won't work if it's .HTML - hence the red X. It doesn't matter where you are or what your email address is anyone can post a link to an image or photo as long as the photo is on the web somewhere.
Sometimes you have to view the source of the page with the photograph in order to see the exact URL for the image (i.e. ending in jpg or gif). If it ends in HTML you can put it into Optional Link URL but then people will only see the link not the picture until they click on the link.
