Tristia lies just to the northwest of Nephin near the head of the Crumpaun River. I think is often mistakenly called Nephin Beg. The true Nephin Beg lies about 10 or 12 miles further west. There are some unusual place names/villages around it like Boghadoon, Doonaroya and Ballynafidla. On the Crossmolina side where the Deel River flows into Lough Conn there are many antiquity sites (abbeys, raths etc)including the oddly named village of Rake Street near Grabe of the Kings. There used to be great fly fishing along this shore of Lough Conn all the way down to Massbrook.
