era was given by Paddy Reilly of The fields of
Athenry fame on Irelands greatest hits on RTE recently.He was teling how he played gigs in
Mayo and Donegal for the priceof the petrol
until he had a huge hit with the fields.
His manager was telling him that Pat Jennings
of the TF had rang looking for the Dublin City
Ramblers but was put off by the fee.Pat decided
to opt insread for Paddy Reilly whom he had paid
for previosly but when he heard the new fee,the
manager told Paddy that there was silence at Pats
end until he barked
"They must be the dearest f***** fields in Ireland"
