Well I will have to agree with the rest of the crowd here Mavis "I don't Know", but I was wondering if you knew May Berry. She was housekeeper to Fr. Hennelley P.P. of Park. My father would sometimes give her a ride home which I believe was in Snugboro and her family was from Newport I believe. She made the best brown bread in Ireland. Periodically after school Fr. Hennelley would entice my Dad in for a wee dram!, and I would be put in the care of May Berry and fed brown bread butter and jam and tea and a half crown would suddenly appear out of nowhere and clatter on the table or land in the tea with a splash as the P.P. from the doorway trying his luck at tossing the coin into my cup with a big sly grin on his face. He was transferred to a parish in Galway somewhere?. He was a severe man, with a thin aquiline face and spectacles but I liked him(naturally!)except when he arrived in the schoolhouse unannounced asking all kinds of questions I remember a specific episode on the subject of gluttony admonishing the children not to cut their bread too thick or use too much butter!! but that was nothing compared to the fear I had when the Cigire came to visit, no doubt in to-day's terminology that would be classified as a visit from upper management!! I was in the middle of working on a couple of projects for our boarders when the world stopped and will continue to work on these efforts as soon as I put my two bits in here shortly D.V.
