Well spotted JDP!
Regarding Mrs Mc Gill, she only moved to St. Pat's Avenue after her husband Brian retired or else died, can't remember which. She was a brilliant English scholar. Her notes on Shakespeare were superb and were invaluable to those who availed of them, prior to Leaving Cert exams.
I often heard the stories of how her husband Brian would come home for his dinner at 1 o'clock to find his wife engrossed in a book for the past few hours and no meal prepared! In those days the Mc Gill's lived at the rear of the Garda Barracks about where the Vincent de Paul premises is now on Pavilion Road. As very young kids, we would avoid Mrs Mc Gill if we spotted her on the road, as she would start telling us about the writers and poets, matters in which we had little interest at that time.
