Anyone remember the fair days and market days and all the activity at the end of Main Street and Rush Street.
Do you remember the stalls and the great bellowing gravelly voice of Cyril Chapman selling everything from a needle to an anchor. I used to be mesmerised by the way he would sell the basildon bond writing pads and the packets of envelopes! "Not one packet of envelopes will I give you, not two but three, yes three packets of envelopes with a large writing pad" He was the real old style salesman and a great one at that. The crowds would gather at his stall and as young fellows we would try and push our way to the front to see his spectacular performance.
