I wonder if what you are referring to is a "bog ubh" - bog (Irish) is pronounced bug. This was the name we gave to newly laid eggs which lacked shells. Around Castlebar, and maybe elsewhere, eggs are still often referred to as gugs. So a soft egg is a 'bog gug'.
