Jackie lived in London in the sixties and was a great fan of TV shows auch as Rifleman and Kit Carson. He was a great outdoors man and loved shooting. After one trip, he was having a drink inGilligan's pub in Belcarra. He was dressed in all the gear, including ammo belt slung across his chest. A few locals began to give him a hard time. Jackie tipped back his hat, raised his gun, drew back both hammers and aimed at the men. As he did, he addressed Mrs Gilligan: 'Pardon me, Ma'am, looks like we got three here for Boot Hill.'
He was a gifted mechanic but like many men of his time and place, was fond of a drop. His wife was a lady and those of us who went to school with the lads enjoyed their company. Jackie was a very decent man and often gave money to children on the street. Another Auld Stock and character gone. Will we see their likes again?
