Mention of Angela brings back memories.
I so remember having to go to the dreaded piano lessons after school and the trouble I got into when I conveniently forgot to go!
Banging on the green door in Market Square, you had to bang on it, otherwise, nobody would answer.
In the door in the hallway and into the big room. The piano situated at the end, ruler on right hand side. That ruler was smacked off the piano in time to the music, one and two and three and ....
I can still see Angela wrapped in shawl at times, lips pursed and dark glasses.
When she wrote a letter, Angela always used a ruler and kept it in place to ensure a straight line, so that the writing always had a very flat or square look to it.
Dick, ever the teacher, surrounded with books at the table further down and we also had occasional glimpses of Christy who kept the fires burnng.
It was in Angela's that I saw the funeral of John F. Kennedy on the television. I was delighted....no lesson.
In later years, Angela moved to Marian Row and her neighbours there were very good to her. Angela was different, but extremely kind and I never heard her utter a bad word about anybody. From an age long gone.......
