Tempus reminiscing on Sammy and Jessie brought to mind the true story about his own sharp minded dad,who, upon entering Tanseys one night ( as he did on occasions),stood silently surveying the scene, and quickly requested Sammy/Jessie to " give a Paddy to each of the 7 Paddies"
The seven patrons he encountered were Paddy McGough and Paddy Howard ( Blackfort),Paddy McDermot and Paddy Ludden ( westport Rd.), Pat Lavelle ( Castle St) Paddy O Malley ( Tucker St.) and Paddy Gilligan ( Marian Row)
All sadly passed on save Paddy Ludden who still holds court and drinks pints in Johnny McHales and tells great stories.Auld stock.
I hope the foregoing is not a "repeat"
