Nostalgia to night in the TF-- Shades of Jimmy Daly, Andy McTigue,Henry Downes, Tom McGreal,Anton Condon et al----The interaction of the kids with the Wicked Witch "yes I will" --"no you wont" are never changing. They still scream "He's behind ya,He's behind ya"as the villain stalks the good knight.
Great show. Modern sound systems and lighting effects have eliminated the dangers of the pyrotechnics and bare wires which Jimmy used (and nearly blew up our house) to produced the thunder flashes and smoke in bygone years.
The sound system, the lighting, the effects, the music and the cast in this show were all excellent.
But the sight of Larry Davis in the chorus line made one wonder.
Has he been around longer than Cher?.Could it be Lar? Yes,It was, it was.Spoted complete with makeup, at HALF TIME in the bar. There is allways HALF TIME at a panto-----sometimes called The Interval;invented in halls in Ireland to allow people to slip out to Coadys Buckos and other Inns nearby ."Two halfwans and the same again Liam" . The second half was allways started when you got back and some male member of the chorus usually spied sliding in from the wings to the back line
Was that Nan Monaghan backstage tonight?.Did she say "five tickets for two Euro". It used to be "sixpence each or six for a halfcrown", for the brown bag prize, which contained the expected bottle of PADDY.The raffle still goes on --I missed the result, due to impending last orders;not Paddy I'm sure.
How about an Oscar for Larry and Nan; for services to panto.
Well done to everybody involved
Carry on Panto.
