While in Castlebar at the weekend and at the mention of Cowcabbage this young wan ( mid fortyish) bursts into song:
"I went to a party at the County Home,
There was Cowcabbage on the saxaphone,
and Johnny the Whip in his blue suede shoes
while Cuckoo Crofton was singing the blues"
Her older brother regularly sang this parody into a plug at the end of a kettle lead!
The cuckoo Crofton is a reference to Josie Crofton, a lady who lived on Tucker St.
