There must have been some hot ones.Remember melted tar.Sitting on the plank over the stream which separated Rocky's field from Philbins and dipping the feet in.Playing tennis on the road.Endless games of whatever we could think of in Rocky's and Henry Kenny's fields.Cidona,raspberry ripple ice cream.Actually not freezing to death getting in the lake(Lannagh)or the sea in Lecanvey.I went to someones bog once and got sunburned.Fresh mown hay,helping make haycocks. Summer visitors from far away exotic places like---England,Africa(usually nuns and priests)Derry,Crossmolina,Galway,Dublin.How much more uncomplicated life was then.And that was only 1961 or was it 62.------I'm watching Simon and Garfunkle in The Concert from Central Park on public TV tonight.Now that brings a whole different memory.
