Looking for information on this Gentleman. He was referred to as "The Baron of Broadway", as he came to America to make his fortune. As to how he did it, I am not sure. He is, John James Hanley, and his sister, my G Grandmother is Elizbeth Hanley O'Grady. They are the children of John and Kate Hallinan Hanley, my GG Grandparents. Story has it that John James Hanley paid the way of several of his neices and nephews to come to America, and that he was liberal with his money. He, on one occasion, went to Ireland and had two stained glass windows comissioned to be made and hung in his parents name in the Church of Monagea. They still hang there to this day. I would love to connect with members to this family and share the information that I have been locating, and to see if they can help me with the many gaps that I have. You can locate me at this addy.
