Lovely snaps PJ - they bring back lots of good memories. In bygone days there was a coast guard station just about where the public toilets are today. Old Head Hotel used to be known as Old Head Lodge and the house just above the pier was known as Boathaven Lodge. Looking west from the pier the first headland is Carricklahan. Its also a wave cut platform. Old Head wood I'm told is a preserve of an original oak forest modified by the prevailing winds.
