Dinjoe hosted a programme called "Take the Floor", one of the most popular programmes on Radio in the 1950s and 1960s. Its most remarkable feature was its "dancing on radio" whereby Dinjoe would call out the steps (with warnings like "mind the door") while the dances were being performed. He recorded a few programmes in North Mayo, among other places. He was not Joe Lynch, the actor now better known as Dinny from Glenroe, but Joe Lynch had his own radio programme at the time and both he and Dinjoe used to slag each other during their respective programmes. Dinjoe's real name was Fitzgibbon. Can't recall his first name. After he left radio, he had a very successful career as manager of a major car sales company - I think it was Toyota. I think, though am not entirely sure, that he died some years ago. Joe Lynch died a year or two ago.
