Yes that was one of the reasons suggested by teach - to keep the tea hot. But the first thing we do when we're drinking a cup of tea is to add milk to cool it down! I suspect that a metal pot would conduct the heat away quicker than a ceramic or earthenware too! I think there's more to it?
