A thought that came to me this morning while attending Mass. Another dying trend - handwriting with a real pen and real ink. Anyone remember dip pens at school? The smell of the ink in the well on the desk? The colour of your fingers and clothes when you went home after an afternoon's penmanship? Maybe that should have been a dyeing trend? And what about when you opened those pristine Red and Blue lined copybooks all carefully ruled out so that your leaders and trailers were all the same size? Copperplate?
The modern desk doesn't have that hole for the inkwell any more apparently. It would have been useful for taking the power cord for the laptop though! If we had known that we were all going to be using computers we could have learned to type instead of having handwriting classes!!!
