Westport shoemakers. The only shoemaker left in Westport is Joe Cameron, The Octagon, an outstanding craftsman. Other shoemakers in the past in Westport were Tim Sullivan, Bridge Street; John James Gavin, Mill Street; Austin Gannon, Tubber Hill; Mr. Growney, Newport Road, who won a prize in the Hospitals Sweepstakes at one one time; a Mr.Clancy who worked in the premises now occupied by Joe Cameron.
