Christmas in the 60;s kicked in early December when the lights came on the first floor of Wynnes.This told us that toyland had arrived.What a time.Next to remind us that christmas was near was the Christmas Fair in the Town Hall organised by the Combined Union of the Castlebar and Turlough Church of Ireland.What an afternoon ,I recall walking home in pitch darkness on my own with afantastic present from santa so satisfied.Ialways thought that santa was T Shannon though and not TMCGREAL who was otherwise preoccupied.
