Dan Callaghan,Cashel,Turlough/Parke,was buried on Monday last. I spoke to him in the General Hospital in Castlebar a short time before he died. He was very ill but still retained his sense of humour and the smile on his face was as broad as the village of Ballyvary where he played many a game of darts in Frank O'Reilly's and coached many of the younger players. A lovely, decent men who always kept the best side out through thick and thin. His wit and wisdom brightened all our days and we always felt better after leaving him. He will be missed and mourned but remembered with affection and pride. Peace to the noble soul of one of life's characters. As they say in Castlebar, may the heavens be his bed. Johnny Mee.
