It has been brought to my intention that an error has occurred in an article published by this paper "The Newport Rd. Daily Blah" . Reliable witness's thought to have seen the words "Mad Max" written on the back of a t-shirt worn by a certain fleeing person (male in gender) from a homestead on the Newport rd are now found to be mistaken. On further investigation by our roving reporter John Jo Barrett,
it has been discovered that these witnesses were highly intoxicated having imbibed too much "Dailc' at Micky Walsh's half way house near isleanady after the concert. The journalist who initially was hired to cover the concert was also intoxicated and has been sent to Florida to count ballots for the" rainbow coalition". Mr. Barrett having interviewed Maggie Brown, and Mrs OHaire two stalwart and upright citizens on the Newport Rd., states that the perpetrator was in fact female !. Mr Barrett goes on to quote Mz Brown as saying " Sure I couldn't get a wink of sleep that night with all that racket goin on, & with that dog barken an all, I looked out the door and could see her runnen up the road with her pants under her arm ,and her shirt had one a them lumynous names on, Maxine! It said, you could see it bright as day with the full moon an all isn't that right Mrs. O Haire?" "Thats right Mz. Brown " said Mrs. O Haire , from the other side of the hedge "I seen her too" . It remains for me, then in light of this NEW information to apologize sincerely to any contributor of the Castlebar nostalgic department if I have caused any harm due to mistaken identity and misinterpretation .Specifically a contributor named Max . On second reading of his brief Santa Message I realized that I was blind but now can see, that the image he presented is priceless, That of a young boy going home in the dark clutching a "fantastic Toy " from Santa, secure and happy ,Christmass around the corner.Tea first, rashers and eggs bread butter and jam .
