You are quite right MM. Ireland has more than its fair share of colourful characters. I think Graineuaile's life story would make a great film. She was an exceptional person.
I imagine there is cash available now in Ireland to make a quality film of Ann Chambers' book. Dervorgilla O'Rourke was returned to her husband in 1153, one year after her
abduction. Fourteen years later when Dervorgilla would have been 59 years old, Dermott MacMurrough paid 100 ounces of gold to her husband Tiernan O'Rourke in reparation for
the abduction. That was a lot of cash! Just 115 years before, Brian Boru as high king of Ireland, had confirmed Armagh as the supreme ecclesiastical see in Ireland and had
given a gift of 20 ounces of gold. Dervorgilla was valued at five times more!
