Mayo County Council wins Innovation in Government Award
 
Mayo County Council wins the Innovation in Government Award for Customer Service to Businesses for its MyMayo.ie portal.

The MyMayo.ie portal is a secure website similar to online banking that allows business customers to view their water usage online, report water issues and pay water bills from the same website.  MyMayo.ie is currently set up to serve business customers, but the general public will be invited to become members of the site when more services are added in 2009.  Eventually, all customers will be able to avail of a range of Council services via the portal.
 
MyMayo.ie was developed by the IT Section of Mayo County Council and integrates with the IB Solutions’ online payments system.
 
In 2009, services such as Planning and various license applications will be available through MyMayo.ie.  For each service, “one-click” form filling will be available where Council forms will be as pre-filled as possible for the Customer to save time.  Dog licenses are already available this way via MyMayo.ie or can be purchased after filling in a simple form on Mayococo.ie.  The portal will also allow customers to track items they’ve submitted in the past and serve as a virtual one-stop-shop for online services.
 
“We see MyMayo.ie as a great foundation on which to build a full range of eServices for customers.  MyMayo.ie is already offering great service to business customers and we think the general public will come to see this as a great asset in the future,” said Pat Carroll, Head of Information Services with Mayo County Council.
 
Non-domestic water customers will receive their usernames and passwords by post.  But, business customers can register online at MyMayo.ie now.
