Castlebar is extremely proud of its hard won Institute of Technology (formerly the RTC) - now up and running with some 800 full-time and 600 part-time students and the college is still growing. The current Director is the College is Katie Sweeney. The emphasis is on computers, electronics and business courses. GMIT Castlebar Campus (as the college is now known) is a major asset to Castlebar, providing skilled graduates which will fuel Castlebar's Information Age revolution. Already some of its computer science students and graduates are involved in the work on the Castlebar Web site. |
The campus also has provision for campus companies in its development plans.
