Mayo Aviva Health FAI Primary Schools Competition 2013

Mayo Aviva Health FAI Primary Schools 5-a-Side Finals took place on Friday April 26th in Milebush Park, Castlebar, County Mayo with approximately 1000 people descending on the fabulous facility. We also had a special guest on the day, RUA the new mascot for the FAI eflow Summer Soccer Schools who brought a smile to all the kids on the day and happily posed for photographs.

One Hundred and Six teams participated and after all games were played the following schools qualified for the Connacht Finals:
Boys Section "A" - Kilkelly NS
Girls Section "A" - Kilmovee NS
Boys Section "B" - Barnacarroll NS
Girls Section "B" - Snugboro NS
Boys Section "C" - St Pats NS, Castlebar

It was a very competitive and enjoyable football served up by the finest of Mayo Primary School players.
Section "A" Boys which had 42 teams taking part was won for the first time by Kilkelly NS who defeated a gallant Meelickmore in the final.
Girls Section "A" which 39 teams took part Kilmovee also first time winners defeated Kilmaine in the final .
Boys Section "B" in which 20 teams took part Barnacarroll took the title defeating Scoil Padraig, Ballina in the final. This is the 2nd time Barnacarroll have won these regional finals in recent times.
Girls Section "B" in which 6 teams participated Snugboro NS came out on top.

The new mascot for the FAI Summer Soccer Schools brought a smile to the proceedings.


All winners along with St Pats, Castlebar in Boys "C" now go forward to the Connacht Finals next month in Shiven Rovers FC.

The Mayo Primary Schools would like to thank Milebush Park and in particular Tom Jennings along with his staff and Pat Quigley for the use of excellent facilities and preparation of the pitches. They are also grateful to the referees who assisted on the day and particularly would like to thank all the teams and their managers/teachers for the very sporting way in which they conducted themselves. It was an excellent sporting occasion enjoyed by all.
