Congratulations to Damien McGraith of the Mayo Referees Branch, who has been appointed by UEFA to officiate at the European Championship in Poland/Ukraine this summer as an assistant referee.

This is Damiens highest honour so far in his refereeing career, he has already been appointed to Champions League games as well as Europa Cup. He was also involved in the European U21 Championships in Denmark last year.

The Mayo League, along with all the footballing people in Mayo and througout the country wish Damien well, and we will be watching him closely during the competition.

The Football Association of Ireland have extended an invitation to the Mayo League to take part in the EA Sports Cup. This invitation has been accepted by the League.

The Mayo League is the only Junior team that has been invited into this cup.

They are in Pool 2, this group consists of Finn Harps, Derry City, Sligo Rovers, Fanad Utd, Monaghan Utd, and the Mayo League.

The Draw took place today and the Mayo League have been drawn to play Finn Harps in Finn Park on Monday the 26th March.

Ballina Utd after long and careful deliberations, have decided not to enter a team in the Mayo League for the 2012 season. A spokes person for the club, stated they had decided not to go ahead with a team this year, because of immigration within the club, and also a number of players had moved onto other clubs in the area. They were disappointed not to be able to continue, but would be hopeful that they will be back next year.

He hoped Ballina Utd will re-organise themselves for next season, and looked forward to them returning to the League.
