Health & Fitness Workshop gets Mayo ready for the DeCare Dental Sport a Smile Run/Walk & Family Day

The people of Mayo received expert health and fitness advice this week at a Workshop hosted at DeCare Dental in Claremorris, in preparation for the DeCare Dental Sport a Smile 5 mile run/walk, which takes place on Saturday August 27th.

The workshop provided practical race performance, nutrition and fitness advice from top personal trainers from the Claremorris Leisure Centre, the McWilliam Park Hotel Leisure Centre and Phoenix Total Fitness.

This year is the 10th anniversary of the DeCare Dental Sport a Smile run/walk, which is held each year in aid of Mayo Cancer Support Association.

Over the past 10 years the event has raised over €110,000 for charity, thanks to the support of race participants, local businesses and supporters.

To mark this achievement, DeCare has joined forces with the Claremorris Chamber of Commerce to create a Sport a Smile celebration on the Square on Aug 27th.

People of all ages are encouraged to come along to Claremorris Square before the run/walk, which starts at 12 noon, and enjoy an afternoon of family fun, including a live DJ, free face painting, puppet shows and giveaways and guest appearances from the Tooth Fairy, Barney and Minnie Mouse.

For those who wish to enter the run/walk, registration is available on the day and takes place in the Dalton Inn from 10:00am to 11:30am.
