Are you ready to take on the Sports Council Challenge?

A Chara,

I would like to present you with a corporate challenge which the Irish Sports Council is running in May 2013. Our CEO, John Treacy is asking companies to get involved and motivate their employees to become more active over the course of May. We started the Challenge last year and we were delighted to have 55 companies taking part. We were overwhelmed by the achievements of the companies that took part.

Below is a brief outline of what the Sports Council Challenge entails:

The Challenge:

Your staff will set physical activity challenges to complete over four weeks in May. The challenges can be large scale initiatives or smaller events to suit smaller workforces. They can be associated with a specific target like cycling the distance of the Tour de France or swimming the distance of the Irish Sea. Making it measurable like this will give your staff a goal to focus on and keep them interested. After the four weeks of activity, your company will send a report to the Irish Sports Council, outlining what you have achieved with your challenges.

The Awards:

We will be hosting an awards night on the 6th of June to showcase the achievements of the companies involved. Further details on the awards night will be given to all companies after they register. The awards categories are as follows:
· Best Overall Organisation

· Best Small Organisation (0-20 employees)

· Best Medium Organisation (21 - 100 employees)

· Best Large Organisation (101 + employees)

· Best Sporting Organisation

· Best Media Campaign

· Best Fundraiser

Special Olympics Ireland are coming on board this year as our charity partner. If you haven't got a charity in mind already, we would be delighted if you would consider fundraising as part of your Challenge for Special Olympics. Fundraising is optional for all companies taking part.

Each company that takes part in the Sports Council Challenge will receive a Certificate of Achievement regardless of whether or not they win an award.

What's in it for your company?
Publicity for your company through our Sports Council Challenge campaign
A chance to highlight your own company's achievements during the Challenge

Get Involved:

To get your staff involved we would suggest that you ask them to get thinking about challenges they could achieve. Further details on the Challenge are available from our website and are contained within the application form but if you have any additional questions, please contact me by email at gcostelloe@irishsportscouncil.ie or by telephone at 01 8608800.
