Mayo Sports Partnerships Autumn 2014 Training & Events Programme

Child protection in sport, sports first aid, sports leadership training, cycling leader training, disability inclusion training, club development workshop in social media and leader training for volunteers working with older people groups  are just some of the upcoming sports volunteer  training courses which will be available through Mayo Sports Partnership over the coming months. These courses / seminars are aimed at community / sport volunteers, coaches, teachers or indeed anyone who may have an interest in sport or physical activity. Included in the comprehensive schedule is a Fit4Life / Meet and Train Leader Training Course along with phase 3 of a new after school activity programme which is on offer to all primary schools in the county. As part of its Club Development Workshop Series the umbrella sports body is also offering a Social Media Workshop for Sports Clubs / Groups. This will take place on Wednesday 12th November from 7pm - 10pm in the Mayo Education Centre, Castlebar.

In addition the 11th National Coaching Conference  "Fun to Potential: Coaching the Whole Athlete"takes place in Sligo IT on the weekend of Friday 26th and Saturday 27th September. The 11th National Coaching Forum will combine Keynote speakers, with practical and applied sessions, with opportunities to network with coaches from different sports. The Forum has become a "can't be missed" event on the sporting calendar, involving coaches at all levels from up to 48 different sports. See more at www.coachingforum2014.com

Another interesting feature of the Autumn schedule will be a Sports Seminar titled "Its not always about winning" taking place as part of the Irish Association of Suicidology's National Conference on Thursday 10th October. A strong team of sports personalities including ex Cork Hurler Donal Og Cusack will be on hand to discuss how sport and physical activity can lead to a positive outlook on life. More details are to be announced in due course.
