Operation Get Mayo Active

Final call for communities, groups, clubs to get involved in the Operation Get Mayo Active 5 week Campaign ( see below).

A full directory of groups involved in the campaign will be distributed on Wednesday 15th January.

Areas from where Groups / Clubs are Registered Include:

- Achill
- Belmullet
- Ballina
- Ballinrobe
- Ballyhaunis
- Bangor Erris
- Belcarra
- Bofeenaun / Laherdane
- Clogher
- Charlestown
- Castlebar
- Claremorris
- Foxford / Knockmore
- Killasser / Swinford
- Kilmaine
- Urlaur / Kilmovee
- Westport

 

Would like to be included in the Campaign?

Planning on getting more physically active for the new year? Following the new series of Operation Transformation?
Mayo Sports Partnership are calling on groups, clubs or communities throughout Mayo that have started or hope to start an 'Operation Transformation Walking, Running or Exercise Group' to contact us and let us know the details of your community/club/group/workplace programme.

We will advertise the programme for you on our Operation Get Mayo Active Calendar of Events next week and for the 5 weeks while Operation Transformation runs. We will supply you with resources to help your group take on the challenge.

These will include -

    • - Promotion
    • - A 5 week series of leaflets
    • - High Viz Vests
    • - Follow on Walking Leader Training

 

The campaign commences on Saturday 18th January with 4 Mayo Walks as part of the National Walks. These will take place in the following locations with a start time of 11am. Participants are requested to register at the below locations no later than 10.45am:

Belmullet - Meeting Point Civic Centre
Castlebar - Meeting Point Castlebar Tennis Club
Claremorris - Meeting Point Clare Lake Entrance
Westport - Westport Leisure Park

Operation Get Mayo Active will culminate in a 5K Fun Run / Walk in each of the above locations on Saturday 22nd February at times yet to be arranged.

Please note that there is nothing to stop you organising a walk in your area on the 18th to start your campaign.
Contact us by Friday January 10th and we will advertise your programme in next weeks papers and bulletins. All you have to do is let us know the following details of your programme

- Name of Group
- Days
- Time
- Venue / Meeting Point
- Name of Programme ie Get Achill Moving
- Contact Name and Number

Already there is interest from groups in Achill, Aughamore, Ballina, Ballintubber, Belmullet, Ballinrobe, Castlebar, Charlestown, Claremorris and Westport. But we want more.
