Workshop aim

In recent years a range of programmes aimed at increasing participation in fitness walking and running have been promoted across County Mayo. These include Fit for Life, Meet and Train, Men on the Move, Couch to 5K,  FitWALK (FleetFEET, FootPUMPIN), etc.  In addition a large number of communities and workplaces organise walking/jogging/running programmes during Operation Transformation (January/February) each year.

Mayo Sports Partnership is calling on all groups across the county who are interested in participating in Operation Transformation 2015 to attend this FREE information workshop on giving you the tools of how to set up your programme and be part of the "Operation Get Active Mayo" campaign in 2015.

This workshop will explore the potential to develop a common approach by ALL programmes

during the period of Operation Transformation 2015 (Jan 12th - Feb 21st).

Topics of discussion to include

- benefits of piggybacking on Operation Transformation?

- benefits/challenges of a joint approach by all programmes?

- agreement on aim/focus of programmes during OpTrans period

- exploration of possibilities for common content (challenges, awards, events, etc)

- useful resources / equipment

- Mayo Sports Partnership support (promotion, leader training, etc)

Participants

The workshop is open to leaders / leader teams that are considering implementing

a fitness walking or running programme in their community or workplace

in tandem with Operation Transformation 2015.
