Find out more how to use Social Media to promote your club !

Following on from a previous hugely successful seminar in 2012 Mayo Sports Partnership is calling all sports clubs in the region to sign up for the 2014 Social Media Seminar for Sports Clubs in the Mayo Education Centre, Old Westport Rd, Castlebar on Wednesday 12th November.

Most clubs are aware of Facebook and Twitter but are unsure how to best utilise these free PR tools. This seminar will look at these social media platforms and will show the ease at which people can use them, will highlight the dos and don'ts and outline examples of where ordinary sports clubs have embraced it for positive benefit and how your club can benefit from social media also.

2014 saw the FIFA World Cup showcase the importance of social media in a modern sporting arena, allowing members of the public to send messages of support directly, to follow progress, updates and results and to enable the players to connect directly with viewers and supporters. At a time when we're all looking to increase engagement with what we do, it's essential that we understand the role social media can play in this.

The event will run from 7pm to 10pm with the main speaker on the night being Communications Management expert Pete Kelly ( media officer for Salthill Devon FC and communications advisor to www.Bikefit.ie andwww.avenirsports.ie ) who will be getting clubs more familiar with the various social media platforms and encouraging them to look at using social media as a promotion and recruitment tool. Attendees should typically be sports club members including administrators, committee members, coaches and volunteers who are involved in the running or governance of sports clubs.

Clubs rely on social media these days for build up to games, in terms of communicating their team announcements, fixtures, results and club events. The seminar aims to inform and guide clubs about this valuable communication tool and we hope to see as many clubs as possible attend.

For more information on the event log onto http://www.mayosports.ie/CoursesandEventsEventsCalendar/. Clubs can register for  a fee of €20 per person and includes tea / coffee, free parking, an information pack and supporting material. Places are limited to 20 so early booking is advised ( see attached application form).
