Places filling fast for the Mayo Disability Inclusion Training (DIT) course

This training course developed by the National Training and Education Working Group for Inclusive Physical Activity, Sport and Physical Education is designed to give participants the ideas, knowledge and confidence to adapt their sessions to make them more accessible for people with disabilities. The workshop will also examine perceptions and experiences in relation to sport and physical activity for people with disabilities and look at disability awareness in terms of legislation, communication and barriers to participation. The training is suitable for Sports Coaches and Instructors, Disability Service Staff, Sport leaders, Parents, Volunteers and anyone interested or involved in the provision of Sport and Physical Activity for people with disabilities. The workshop will include both theory and practical elements.

Details of the upcoming course and how to book a place are as follows:

When: Saturday, 8th November 2014

Where: Castlebar, Co. Mayo

Time: 10.00 am - 4.00 pm

Mayo Sports Partnership in conjunction with the CARA National APA Centre and Coaching Ireland.

Who should attend?

Sports Coaches, Instructors, Sport leaders, Parents, Volunteers and anyone interested or involved in the provision of Sport and Physical Activity for people with disabilities.

Certification:

On completion of the course all participants will receive a Coaching Ireland/CARA APA Centre award and a course resource pack.

Cost:

  • €45 Regular Price

Re: Children's Officer in Sport Training Course

A follow on training course for designated Childrens Officers in Sports Clubs will take place over 2 Tuesday evenings 4th and 11th November in Castlebar. Interested attendees should have attended the basic Child Protection in Sport course for sports volunteers where it was recommended that the issues raised during this workshop be brought back to your club and discussed. A designated Childrens Officer was then to be identified and nominated to go for further training. This further training for the designated Childrens Officer, will take place on;

Date: Tuesday 4th and 11th November

Time: 7pm- 10pm

Venue: Mayo Education Centre, Castlebar

Fee: €25

Note: you must be your clubs ‘Designated Childrens Officer' in order to attend this course & your club should be under a National Governing Body.
