Child protection in sport, sports first aid, sports leadership training, walking leader training, disability inclusion training, club development workshops and leader training for volunteers working with older people groups are just some of the upcoming sports volunteer training courses which will be available through Mayo Sports Partnership over the coming months. These courses / seminars are aimed at community / sport volunteers, coaches, teachers or indeed anyone who may have an interest in sport or physical activity. Included in the comprehensive schedule is a series FREE of Sports Volunteer Workshops provided by the Irish Sports Council at a number of venues around the country. These FREE workshops are booked on a first come first served basis and topics include time management, event planning, finance, governance, public relations and social media. Another interesting feature of the Autumn schedule will be the return of the Success in Sport Series with a Seminar titled " Drugs in Sport" This event will explore aspects of sporting life including issues including performance enhancement drugs in sport, impacts of alcohol use on sports performance and recovery, the demands and pressures on high performance athletes, day to day routine, preparation, the importance of leadership, management and preparation so that teams and individuals can make winning a habit. Run in collaboration with the Western Regional Drug Task Force this seminar will be part of the annual Drug and Alcohol Awareness Week in November
