Thursday 16th October is International Credit Union day.

We will be Holding an Open Day / Information Day in our Offices in Castlebar from 10.00am to 2.00pm on Thursday 16th, and refreshment will be available

We will be holding a Draw for Minor (under 16yrs) Account Members, and a Door prize for all visitors to our offices on the day. There will be a live broadcast on CRC FM with members of the Committees.

Credit Union Day is the annual day that encourages the credit union movement to celebrate its achievements and spread its message among its members

Credit unions throughout the world give people the opportunity to belong to a financial institution guided by open membership, democratic control and member education - this alone is truly a reason to celebrate. This year an estimated 112 million Credit Union members worldwide will be celebrating International Credit Union Day on October 16, 2003.

The 2003's celebration theme Credit Unions: "The Heart of Our Community" was democratically selected in a poll hosted on the World Council of Credit Unions website. Credit union members and representatives from around the world cast their votes in February 2003 to choose a theme which shares a common idea, that together credit unions are making a difference and are at the heart of the communities they serve.

International Credit Union Day is a specific annual occasion calling attention to the impact of credit unions on the lives of millions of people. International Credit Union Day honours the gifts and achievements of the many pioneers who founded credit unions and their service groups. It is also important to pay tribute to the many people who today continue to demonstrate the commitment that is building new credit unions or sustaining and further developing existing savings and credit cooperatives.
