The second recipient of the ‘Player of the Year’ award went to Michelle Hopkins. Even though she has only being playing three years she outshone all around her this year. Her commitment, quick-thinking, speed, enthusiasm and knowledge of the game are only a fraction of the attributes that make-up this great player. Calm and collective even under immense pressure, Michelle always ensured that her team were steadied along the winning path especially when they looked like faltering. Her outstanding talent has been commented on by a number of rounders officials time and time again as she show-pieced her skills playing on the U13, U15 and U18 Feile teams this year. One of the great qualities that Michelle’s possesses is her down to earth modesty. A player who shrugs off praise with a laugh but constantly lavishes it on her own team-mates. The Castlebar Rounders team are honoured to have Michelle playing for them. Her parents Ted and Ann should be very proud.
