Humbert_Inn_pre-1981.jpg

A view of Main Street, Castlebar. It's pre-1981 as the structure of Fahey's left hand side window was damaged during "The Occasion at the Castle" music festival in 1981.

We have it on good authority that this photo was taken on a Sunday due to Wynnes being shut and that all cars shown belonged to The Humbert's musicians of the time. Not only would there have been fine music on this particular Sunday, but Sarazin's Restaurant upstairs in The Humbert would also have been open in 1981.

There maybe different coats of paint on Fahey's, Humbert and Wynnes today but these 200 year old plus buildings are still instantly recognisable. People on street not identified as yet but, Baynes's (Tweed Centre) dog Rex turned out to be an easily identifiable street celeb of the time....
