you need to promote a higher awareness of the castlebar website, I think a lot more people would visit it if they knew it actually existed!

Good point. We are very aware that even though we have over one million hits per month with two thousand people per day visiting, a large proportion of the population don't even know that the web site exits. We have been working to get the site to a certain level before we went out to promote it. We believe it has reached that level now. We have applied to get funding to help us promote the site. The local people who don't know about the Castlebar Web Site are generally people who don't use the Internet because those who do use the Internet always find our site sooner or later. We have recently received special funding to help us make the Internet relevant to people who have never used it before. This funding will enable us to challenge people to give the Internet and new technology a go to see if it is of any interest to them. Don't forget we also have a Community Access Centre where local people can come and access the Internet, free of charge and at their leisure. It is open from Monday to Friday 9-5pm. It closes for lunch from 1-2p.m. It is located in the Chamber of Commerce Office on Spencer Street.
