The club was formed in 1937 five years after the Contract Bridge Association of Ireland was formed (CBAI). The founder was Robert Kilkelly (RIP) of Main Street, Castlebar. He being a radio enthusiastic got his initial instruction to bridge by radio. On forming a local club he applied to the CBAI for registration. A letter from the then secretary H.G. Freehill in reply is in the hands of Mrs Sheila Kilkelly, and it is of significant value as to the origins of our club. This is referred to in "THANK YOU PARTNER" by Seamus Dowling on the history of bridge. During the winter months the main night is Tuesday with Thursday more sociable. The venue is The Castlebar Social Services centre at Castle Street starting at 8 pm. Visitors are welcome and there is adequate convenient parking for all.

From May to August Tuesday is an open night and members from adjoining clubs attend. We have a solid membership and average 15 tables on Tuesdays.
